Chinese History in Sweetwater CountyA photo of a previous iteration of our Chinese in Sweetwater County display. Elements of the altar from the Rock Springs Joss House, the eyes of the historic Rock Springs parade dragon, are still on display.

Gift ShopThe museum gift shop contains a changing variety of locally produced and historically themed items to help you find the perfect gift or souvenir. From books on local history to local fossils and much more, it's worth a stop to downtown for your next shopping trip.
Classes and EducationChildren sit in front of a tipi for our annual 3rd Grade History Fair. This hands on history event brings every 3rd grader in the county for a day of history and excitement. To learn more about this event please see the Outreach section of this site.
Statue of John Wesley PowellJohn Wesley Powell was an educator, a bureaucrat, an explorer, and much more. His famous Green River Expeditions started just a few blocks from the museum in Downtown Green River, in both 1869 and 1871. Come see his larger than life statue just outside the museum, and learn more inside the gallery.

The following guidelines are in place for all visitors and staff until public health orders are lifted. Please follow them while in the building.
Please be aware we are managing the number of visitors in the building at one time.
Please use hand sanitizer upon entering the building.
Please sign in to help with contact tracing if necessary.
Please use a face covering at all times while in the museum.
Please practice physical distancing and maintain 6 feet distance from other visitors and staff.
Please make sure to follow all signage, including marked directional arrows in the gallery.
Please use the elevator to access public bathrooms in the basement.
Use of the research library is by appointment only.
The museum gift shop is closed for browsing but staff is happy to assist with a purchase.
